Bowls for a Bus – A rolling success

Last year we had such a great time at our Bowls for a Bus fundraising event that we decided to do it again–bigger and better than last year!

This year’s event, which took place on the 14th of April, brought together almost 100 beginners and avid players, and spectators from across all age groups, who braved the windy weather to help us raise funds for a CareCompany mini-bus and for a day filled with lots of laughter and fun.

We kicked off the day with a warm welcome by the Club President Ian Forgan and the participants were treated to tea, coffee and biscuits before the players took to the greens and chased the jack with the bowls.

After a fun-filled morning on the greens the players enjoyed a tasty lunch and dessert, thanks to our sponsors Pick ‘n Pay, Peach Pip Farm Stall; and generous donors who prefer not to be named and the heart of the CareCompany - our incredible team, whose efforts make this event a huge success.

In the afternoon the teams took to the bowls green once more to play a final round to determine the winning teams. All the winning teams were awarded with wonderful prizes and Karen Kent’s team won the “CareCompany Community Trophy” which was introduced this year, for the winning team in the players section.

During the event we raised over R6,000 that’ll go towards getting the CareCompany’s own minibus to transport Elderly members of the community.

We would like to thank the Fish Hoek Bowling Club for their generosity and continued support, and allowing us the use their premises to host our fundraising events. Another big thank you goes out to our wonderful sponsors: Vortex, Mica, Pick n Pay Head Office, Pick n Pay Fish Hoek Arcade, Peach Pip Farm Stall, Chalk and Cheese, Stingray Group, Ina Paarman’s Kitchen, Warrens Pharmacy, Dischem Pharmacy Noordhoek, Sandi’s Bistro, Zip Print, Wakefords, and Southern Fires, Groot Constantia.

And a really big thanks to all that participated and supported our cause; it was a wonderful day and a huge success.
