Going the extra mile when an emergency strikes

The last thing you want to deal with in a personal emergency is worrying about whether the loved ones in your care will be looked after. Knowing that help is there can be a huge relief to everyone.

That’s exactly what happened when Martha* had an accident and was worried about how her husband, who is living with dementia, would manage.

We are proud to share this note from a community member who wanted to thank our team for their exceptional dedication to the community and going above the call of duty when the opportunity arose.

Dear Jonathan,

I would like to thank the CareCompany, on behalf of the Fish Hoek Bowling Club, for the incredible service that we have received for one of our bowling members, Martha.

Martha and her husband, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, always come to the bowling club in the evening to chat. On her way back to her car she tripped and fell down. Fortunately, we had some strong men who could help her back up but better than that, Jeanette Claassen (CareCompany’s Business Manager and member of the Bowls Club) had just popped into the club to check on something.

The medics arrived and took Martha off to hospital but, of course, there was Jacob* her husband who could not be left alone. Jeanette was wonderful and immediately sprang into action and arranged for a carer to come and be with Jacob straight-away and made a plan for him to be looked after until Martha was well again - which was a relief to all of us.

Martha underwent a hip replacement operation and since she's been home, Jeanette has been checking in on her and arranged carers to come and take care of both of them.

I don't know what would have happened if we didn't have the CareCompany to help. Thank you.

With kind regards,

Patty Searle Sec: Fish Hoek Bowling Club.
